Sioux Falls Voices: Creating Inclusion & Inspiring Belonging in the Workplace for Individual with Disabilities
Inclusive workplaces value and employ individuals with a variety of experiences and skills. Individuals with disabilities can provide employers with the skills and experiences they seek. However, at times, some employers focus on the individual’s disability rather than the individual’s abilities. This webinar will focus on hearing first-hand accounts from individuals with disabilities about challenges and misconceptions they face in employment and when seeking employment. The panelists will offer information and guidance on how to create workplaces where individuals with disabilities are allowed to use their abilities to strengthen work teams and contribute to business success.
Participants will:
Identify ways in which misconceptions interfere with employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities
Gain an understanding of accessibility in the workplace and the ways in which it benefits every employee
Recognize the importance of using appropriate terms and language in the workplace
Understand that reasonable accommodations increase productivity and morale
Learn ways to promote inclusion in the workplace for individuals with disabilities
